Klockner DESMA Elastomertechnik (DESMA) has acquired a German brushing system & automation supplier Berger Bürstmaschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG (Berger) in early 2023. The purchase relocates all manufacturing, design, and assembly of the manufacturer of the brushing systems/process automation platforms to the DESMA factory in Fridingen, Germany.
For decades, DESMA and Berger evolved brush technology for elastomer molding, creating opportunities for automation in rubber and silicone molding. Modern brush systems offer programable mold spray, mechanical grippers for runner removal, and laser scanners for mold surface monitoring. Brush systems evolved to communicate via the DESMA machine control system for simplified operation.
For DESMA, the acquisition of Berger streamlines the design of automated molding cells for our customers, rounding out the product portfolio to include in-house automation, tooling design, and manufacture, in addition to vertical and horizontal molding machinery.
